When it comes to breast cancer, early detection is the best defence.
The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation - Atlantic Region wanted to increase routine screening rates in the region to 85 per cent among eligible women by 2010. Beginning in 2007, CBCF worked with the four provincial governments to increase the availability of digital screening throughout the region.
In 2009, CBCF launched the “Tour for the Cure,” a big pink bus outfitted with information women need to know about breast health. In its first year, the bus visited 110 towns and communities throughout Atlantic Canada.
